Rootian

Spanish DJ and relational artist, known for his deep, psychedelic sound that combines experimental electronics with immersive textures

Rootian is the project of Luis Cobos, a Spanish DJ, psychologist, and relational artist who, after spending nine years living in Mexico City, has returned to Spain. Inspired by his experiences in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, and Mexico, the name Rootian reflects the personal and artistic roots he has cultivated over nearly a decade of his career. His music is characterized by a deep, psychedelic, and cerebral sound that invites listeners to delve into his mind and explore dystopian soundscapes, dark atmospheres, and immersive textures.

Rootian invites us to navigate between mind and movement, blending experimental and leftfield club electronics. He aims to break free from conventional 4x4 patterns, drawing influences from acid, industrial, ambient, spiritual trance, dub, and deconstructed sounds. The result is an introspective 'state of mind' filled with absorbing layers, expansive textures, and vibrant rhythmic cycles.

His project has reached iconic venues in Mexico as well as clubs in Spain and the Netherlands. Additionally, he leads @Honest Allies, a relational art collective connecting artists from Latin America and Europe, fostering creative freedom through music, performance, and installations.
